Mr. Venaglia recently became a named partner in the firm. He has a track record of excellent results and participation in cases of legal significance in the area of commercial and antitrust law.
Mr. Venaglia has extensive experience in MDL litigation, and has handled cases in more than a dozen jurisdictions around the country. He successfully defended a pharmaceutical company in a ten week antitrust trial in Chicago that resulted in a directed verdict for the client. Following the trial, he obtained a $2 million sanctions award on behalf of that client against class plaintiffs' counsel for oppressive and vexatious litigation. He also obtained a forum non conveniens dismissal on behalf of Russian clients in a RICO action brought in the Southern District of New York. He obtained injunctive relief on behalf of clients who were the subject of protests by animal rights activists, and handled the appeal that established that there was no right to a jury trial under the New York Whistleblower Statute.
Mr. Venaglia has handled cases in many industries, including a nationwide class action in the cosmetics industry. He also handles a range of employment matters, including discrimination cases and internal company investigations. Mr. Venaglia has also given seminars on antitrust-related topics.
Mr. Venaglia is admitted to practice in New York, the United States Second Circuit Court of Appeals, the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of New York, and the Western District of New York.
He received his J.D. from Harvard University in 1984 and his B.A. from Fordham University where he graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa in 1981.
Mr. Venaglia is Vice President of the Standardbred Owners Association of New York. He is a Trustee of the SOA of New York’s Welfare and Retirement Funds. He has served as a volunteer in the MENTOR program (working with students at Franklin K. Lane High School in Brooklyn, New York.), and with New York Cares. He is also a past Director of the United States Trotting Association, and has testified before the New York State Advisory Commission on Racing in the 21st Century.
As an avid Thoroughbred and Standardbred Horse Breeder and Owner, he has received awards from Harness Horsemen International, the Standardbred Owners of New York and the Northeastern Harness Horsemen’s Association.
