Mr. Downes is a member of the Litigation Department at Dornbush Schaeffer Strongin & Venaglia, LLP.

Prior to joining the firm in 2007, Mr. Downes was a litigation associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. At Gibson Dunn, Mr. Downes represented a wide range of clients in commercial litigation matters including contract disputes, securities fraud actions, shareholder derivative actions, and Article 78 petitions. Mr. Downes also participated in Gibson Dunn’s representation of Madison Square Garden, L.P., and its parent, Cablevision Systems Corp., in connection with their opposition to the City of New York’s plans to construct a stadium over the West Side Rail Yards in Manhattan.

Mr. Downes received his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 2003 and graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in 1999 with a B.A. in History. At Notre Dame, Mr. Downes was the editor of Scholastic Magazine, and in law school, was an editor on the Moot Court Board. He was elected to the Order of Barristers.

Prior to entering law school, Mr. Downes worked in the Communications Department of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago, where he designed, wrote and edited publications for the agency.
